“Resting Fields” by Kwopi Stein

Watch the summer streams and
Orchids grow, the twisting vines
Of something festering below

Wistful air in the resting field of
The fallen and beloved, who
Have taken a lifetime to finally rest

And though it cannot be proven,
Resting after is a wonderful thought,
In the cool air and many colors

Down below in the fields with the flowers
And the wheat fields and cows, undisturbed,
Left alone, at peace in the garden.
