Announcing: Prizewinners for the George Scarbrough Poetry Contest

We commend everyone who participated in Appalachia Bare’s poetry contest. We received such phenomenal poetry, which made it quite challenging to make decisions – so much so that we have two Honorable Mentions. Without further ado, we announce the following George Scarbrough Poetry Contest winners:

Second Place    Anna Laura Reeve: “Tennessee Red Cob”
Third Place       Michael Bloodworth: “Poor Boy’s Gospel”
Honorable I      M Thomas – “Plain Seeing”
Honorable II     Christian Shushok – “Giles County Rapture”

 

In the coming weeks, each poem will be published in order, beginning with Anna Pedigo’s first place poem, “Grandmother.” Prizes and/or certificates will be sent via the United States Postal Service. Thank you to all who submitted.
