After the Fall

After the Fall

October is peak leaf season in Asheville and the burst of colors brings a flood of tourists to the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Long after the trees are denuded and the tourists have ebbed, beautiful leaves are still here.  Many are scattered in forest nooks and crannies, like fallen soldiers after a battle.  A closer look reveals vibrant colors and weathered, abstract patterns.

Jim Clark, a retired Air Force nurse living with his wife and daughter in Asheville, North Carolina, was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. When he’s not holding down the home front, Jim is likely to be running or biking the surrounding trails and back roads.  He enjoys capturing bytes of flora and fauna with a camera sensor and occasionally sentences a few bits to prose or poem.
